A hole connecting San Jose to the other side of the world has been created!
Since the dawn of man, countless attempts have been made to dig a hole to the other side of the earth. Many have tried and many have failed. In the Fall of 2012 Mark Skwarek and Will Pappenheimer have done what most said was impossible and constructed a hole to the other side of the earth!

During the 2012 Zero 1 Biennial objects are being dropped  through the hole to the other side of the earth. The general public is encouraged to participate as well.

San Jose, CA --  Zero 1 // Bottomless Pit

Bottomless Pit // Brooklyn

A hole was made through the earth connecting San Jose CA USA to Mexico, to China, to Tunisia, to Japan, and to Brooklyn, New York. Viewers can experience the work with augmented reality seen on smartphones and tablets.
People who participate can throw objects of their choosing into the hole and choose where they fall to.
The objects were chosen by the people at each hole location and were things that were positive about that locations culture.  A main goal of the project is to connect people in distant lands with augmented reality and to strengthen the global community.
